Every Tuesday we play plant trivia. The first person to guess the name of the plant correctly wins a FREE one. You can’t win if you don’t play! The winner, if there is one, is posted right here every Thursday! Congratulations to Keri Markt for being the first to I.D. “blue hibiscus”! Keri come on down and get your FREE plant!
So let’s talk about this plant. Alyogyne huegelii, aka Blue Hibiscus (really more purple than blue) is a member of the malva or mallow family which makes it a hardy cousin of the more tropical hibiscus we generally think of. This Australian native is hardy down to 23 degrees and rarely damages in cold winters here. It is perfect for part to full sun areas and does well in a container! They’re in full bloom right now and would help anyone create the garden of their dreams!!
