Another sign that Fall is upon us, today is the first day of Fall by the way, are the smells associated with it. The smell I detected yesterday was not a good one. As i walked to our Mesa office the aroma of death and decay was prevalent. What could that be- every do that-start looking around trying to locate it and hoping maybe you don’t. Low and behold there it was in a corner of the landscape, our once proud Agave Americana piled up in a heap. This is the time of year that the larvae of the Agave Snout Weevil can unfortunately make its presence known. If you have yuccas or agaves you might want to treat them with a grub killer like Hi Yield Grub Free Zone. You can’t wait until you detect this critter because this is how you detect them. Either by watching your plant collapse or smelling the decay. There is no warning and when the damage is done it is too late!
