Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces The holiday, which is observed every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who died while in the military service.
The Harper Boys, our staff, and families extend our grattitude to all who have served, are currently serving, and their families and loved ones. We hope you have a safe and blessed Memorial day weekend!
Take advantage of the beautiful and still spring like weather to do the following:
Fertilize: citrus, lawns, most landscape plants, and existing vegetable gardens
Plant: Warm weather loving plants, trees, and vines like; Mesquite, Palo Verde, Live Oak, Chinese Elm, Pistache, Mexican bird of paradis, lantana, bougainvillea, tangerine beauty cross vine, texas sage, emu…….Need suggestions, remember we make house calls!!
Mulch: Roses, Vegetable gardens and fruit trees. Mulch keeps weeds down, cools roots, and reduces moisture loss from the soil!
Check irrigation systems-be sure they’re working properly. this cooler than normal weather won’t last forever! Again, we make house calls!!
Dethatch and aerate lawns for less water use and healthier greener lawns-we can do that too!!
