Looks like Tuesday am is going to be close to if not freezing in most areas of town, with the outer most areas perhaps in the 20’s. Be sure you are prepared. First, make sure your plants are well watered, it is very dry and dehydration is a major problem in frost damage. Also soils and the air around your plants will remain a little warmer if they are moist and humid. Second, be sure to cover with breathable materials. A lightweight frost blanket or frost cloth is best because light and water can go through them and you can leave them on all day if necessary. Since most of us leave the house before the actual coolest part of the day, it is important to leave the cloth on if need be all day. Lastly, do not prune any damaged growth off the plant until Spring. If it does freeze again the damaged growth will help protect the lower areas of the plant not damaged. The good news-70’s by the weekend!!
