Spring Began Today-Couldn’t You Tell?
We are very fortunate as spring like weather has been with us for weeks now, but in some places the snow just won’t give up! Now is the time to be green, vernal, Verde, virulent …Let’s get those gardens in shape, those shade trees going (you’re always a few years behind the curve on that), that outdoor entertainment area planned and installed! There aren’t many good reason’s not to plant right now-but if not knowing where to begin is one of them-well that is where we come in. We’d love to come visit your home and show you how you can have better curb appeal, an outdoor entertaining area, or simply a nice shady place to sit and relax-whatever your dream garden is-we can help you get there! What’s New In The Garden?
Be on the watch for powdery mildew on roses and grapes We’re seeing lots of butterfly activity, just know that means caterpillars. that could be good news or bad depending on the goals of your garden? got hummers? if not, plant penstemon, emu, salvia, cape honeysuckle, hibiscus, or see us for hummingbird attractors for the garden! Control weeds-pull, pick, spray, mow…however you choose-do it before they go to seed! Prevent weeds-apply pre emergent now, especially to control spurge this summer-we’ve already seen some coming up! Olives-May or May not want them! be watching for the buds to begin opening and spray with florel! Watering-this is a great time to start checking your sprinkler/irrigation system. Things are needing a bit more water now and you don’t want to wait til summer to find out you have a problem! Fertilize-just about everything if you haven’t yet. Vegetable gardens and roses need it once a month. If you dormant bermuda lawn is beginning to green up-start monthly feeding now as well! Enjoy-cactus, palo verde, and other natives are beginning to bloom and leaf out-along with the landscape beauty that abounds this time of year-stop to smell the roses and everything else!
